Bottom Slot¶
In order to ensure numerical stability, a cross section must never have a zero storage width and never become dry (zero water volume.)
This requirement is met by extending the cross sections with a bottom slot for water levels below the physical shape of the cross section.
Two types of bottom slots are supported:
- Classical bottom slot
- Area preserving bottom slot.
Both types start \(\Delta h\) above the cross section bottom and extend to \(6\Delta h\) below the cross section bottom.
