Headloss calculation for outflowing water

Headloss calculation for outflowing water

Headloss as water flows out of a node is calculated separately for each outlet link. The outlet loss for the link j is assumed to be proportional to the velocity head in the outlet link j:

\[ \Delta E_{j}~=~{\sum_{k}}\zeta_{j k}~{\cdot}~{\frac{v_{j}^{2}}{2g}} \]

Equation: Energy loss for water flowing out of a node expressed as proportional to velocity head.

where xjk are individual headloss coefficients for link j, calculated on the basis of the geometry of the node and flow distribution among the links attached to the node.
